UK Cartoon Network Mistakenly Airs Bookmaker Ad

Despite strict rules that govern the airing of gambling ads on tv, the Cartoon Network made a huge faux pas recently when it mistakenly aired an advertising for British bookmaker Coral during a broadcast regarding the children’s television channel.

The ad that is controversial aired on Turner Broadcasting’s Boomerang channel as well as the Cartoon system, sparking outrage as the broadcast code strictly forbids the marketing of gambling ‘in or next to programs commissioned for, principally fond of, or more likely to appeal particularly to audiences below the age of 18 years,’ so minds had been positively tumbling when the broadcast clearly broke these guidelines.
